Event description:
September is National Suicide Prevention Month – a time to remember the lives lost to suicide, acknowledge the millions more who have experienced suicidal thoughts, and the many individuals, families and communities that have been impacted by suicide. It’s also a time to raise awareness about suicide prevention and share messages of hope (SAMHSA, 2025). September is also National Recovery Month - a time to recognize, support, and celebrate individuals in recovery from substance use disorder.
An evidence-based program such as Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is a powerful tool in supporting those we care about. It’s skills-based training course that teaches participants how to recognize signs and provide support to someone who may be experiencing a mental health or substance use challenge or crisis.
Participants will learn:
- A structured action plan known as ALGEE
- The importance of providing hope with facts when supporting someone
- What Yale, local, and national resources exist
This 60-minute webinar is presented by certified MHFA instructor, Danielle Casioppo, MS, Education Specialist and Coordinator with Being Well at Yale. Information about the full 8-hour MHFA certification course will also be provided. This webinar will be recorded and shared with registrants.
Audience: Yale University employees
Please register in advance through Workday Learning.
