Event description:

Pranayama encompasses yogic practices of regulating the breath towards bringing in and retaining vital energy within the body. There is clear scientific evidence that these practices directly act on the nervous system to quickly calm the mind and lead to sustained physiological wellbeing. According to the wisdom of the yogis, Pranayama practices can also have prosocial benefits as positive energy flows into the world. Together we will co-create a space of relief, release, gentleness, and deeper connection internally and externally for participants.

Each class offers the following elements:

  • Gentle warm ups
  • Basic yogic breathing and relaxation techniques
  • An invitation to set a personal intention for the week
  • An invitation to send good thoughts and vibrations out to the world.

Class video and audio recordings will be made and available for practice. Participants are encouraged to refrain from eating a meal at least one hour prior to the class. We will stand to do some warm ups, sit upright for the breathing exercises and lie down for the relaxation. Recommended: straight back chair and space to warm up and/or yoga mat and cushion.

Robert Moses is a yogi with 45+ years of teaching experience and a deep understanding of the neurological processes associated with yogic breathing. His extended bio can be found at https://hindulife.yale.edu/robert-sankara-moses-bio#
