The 2013 Greater New Haven Heart Walk was Saturday, June 1, a 5K/3 Mile Walk. It was an event for the entire family including many canine family members who came out to show their support, like Simon (pictured).
It was a picture-perfect day at Savin Rock on the beach in West Haven, CT, for a beautiful walk along the shore. For many walkers, this was the first large-scale organized activity that they have participated in. What a heart-healthy way to start the summer!
Many thanks to all the Yale University teams for an amazing turnout and effort on Saturday! With over 130 walkers, most in their Being Well at Yale t-shirts, Yale University was well represented! And the Yale teams raised close to $9,200- exceeding the goal by almost $2000! The total donations raised for all companies was $217,289 and donations are still coming in!
Featured events included bandanas for pets, face painting for kids, gift basket silent auction, health screenings, iced tea and lemonade from The Farmer’s Cow, sandwiches from Subway, and there was much more going on at this great event!
Plus, American Heart Association t-shirts will be mailed to all walkers who raised $100 in donations. Thanks again to all for making this such a successful and fun event for a great cause!
