Incorporating Interpersonal Mindfulness into Your Life

Workplaces, families, friendships - each of these relationship dynamics come with unique benefits and challenges. How do we get along better with others when we all percive the world slightly differently based on our lens of experience?

Interpersonal mindfulness is conceptualized as mindfulness during interpersonal interactions and includes awareness of self and others, accompanied with the qualities of nonjudgmental and nonreactive presence. This practice applies the qualities of mindfulness to human interactions (Pratscher, et al, 2018).

Elements of Interpersonal Mindfulness:

  • Shared aspects of human experience
  • Mindful (non-judgmental listening)
  • Compassionate/kind speech/responding
  • Power to PAUSE and listen deeply

This interactive workshop is presented by Danielle Casioppo, MS, Education Specialist/Coordinator with Being Well at Yale, and Charter Certified Mindfulness-Based Strengths Practice instructor and faculty member with the VIA Institute on Character.
